Ever bought or downloaded a free ring tone from an "official" site? (As opposed to using tools to convert some other file and taking a more DIY approach.) Lemme know, I'm supposed to figure out how to implement it for a client.
I have only ever purchased a ringtone via the little browser on my wife's Verizon phone. However, as I understand it, there are at least a couple of options
- Upon purchasing you can have the site send a multimedia message w/ the ringtone attached (in which case the user has to save it and select to use it as a ringtone)
- The user can use the mobile web browser on the phone to navigate to a certain download location after purchasing the ringtone, and if the ringtone is the proper file type, I think the phone auto-recognizes it and downloads/installs it
There may be other ways, for other services, but these are at least 2 ways to do it, I think.
