I seriously wonder if these kids have been on We Heart Music and I just didn't notice. Cloud Cult appears to hail from Vu's home town of Minneapolis, MN, and have been around forever. At least in terms of Indie-rock bands. (Come to think of it, maybe they're just too yesterday for WHM.) Anyway, I just stumbled on them somehow, and have been devouring their discography. Cloud Cult lives in a little neck of the woods with the Polyphonic Spree, Neutral Milk Hotel, and a couple of other bands that I can't quite put a finger on right now.
In honor of Emily Sears' struggle with her local recycling authorities:
On the bright side, it's a pay week for Boots.
In spite of a decent amount of sleep last night, I still feel groggy and sluggish. Maybe I need some B vitamins or something.
See, Boots and I have this habit of going over to Unlimited Coffee during the weekend to grade. Sometimes, we go to Unlimited Coffee and get some iced coffee beverages at an hour when reasonable working folks shouldn't be drinking coffee and planning to get to sleep soon enough to face the working week bright eyed and bushy tailed. On those nights, we generally drink about a quarter of our beverage, and take the rest home to help usher in the next day. Last night, though, Boots felt too close to sick to have her own coffee, so I knew I couldn't get away with not putting a pot on to brew. So, I felt no qualms about drinking a little more coffee than usually would.
Mooksie couldn't get to sleep.
Mooksie wants a nap now, please.
Anyway, here's the Last.fm report.

This week some time, I accidentally hit play while I had a whole bunch of Calexico selected. It only reminded me that the Album, as a concept, is a fabulous thing. I'm not sure how to work album listening back into my daily regimen.
Anyway, I also finally snagged a track I've been trying to hunt down for a long time. (Ah, so nice to have Demonoid back...). It's probably not funny to anyone who hasn't lived in Phoenix, but that's why I like it. For some reason, it also seems like the sort of thing to post on the heels of 4/20. These west coast people sure love their pot-bands. If I hear Sublime ever again, it'll probably be too soon.
In other news, I think this "MySpace profile to keep track of Indie bands" might just be made of FAIL. I forgot that this scheme relied on the bands adding me back. I figured most bands would think of any friend connection as extra PR, but that is apparently not the case and there are a few really good performers that I'll probably just have to add to del.icio.us. And as long as I'm adding some to del.icio.us, I may as well add them all.
