Not much out of the ordinary in my listening habit this week, however, Devin sent me a copy of his Devil Schlock CD! Another strange concept band from the same mind that brought you The Scurvy Pirates and Laser Sled, Devil Schlock is "the worst Misfits cover band in New Jersey." I picked out a random bad Misfits tattoo as album art because I don't have any good Devil Schlock photos handy.

We didn't publish last week's charts, on account of 64 tracks of an audio book that Boots and I were listening to as our bed time story. Let's just say it was a bit more embarrassing than Harry Potter. I think it'ssafe to say it's time to dial back the Fleet Foxes now that the holiday season is over.
I thought a little bit more about my angst and decided it would be dismissive to say that it's just a social angst. There's a touch of professional malaise in there as well. We're down one designer and, I have to admit, everything that out "senior" designer cranks out for the web is exactly the fucking same. There is only so much of that I can take before I start phoning in my efforts to match the lackluster design performance. We've got a new hire coming in a couple of weeks, but it is a crying shame to think that the modicum of pride I felt in the quality of my firm's work was built around someone who doesn't work here any more. (Of course, the sites we are putting together are fine, possibly even professional looking if each one is considered in a void. It's just when you start thinking of them as a continuum of what is possible that they lose their luster.) In any case, I am genuinely considering looking at other places if the new hire doesn't give me something worthy of my skill set.

Nothing much out of the ordinary here. The Sears guy turned up on Saturday to fix the treadmill that Botts' folks got us for Christmas, so I've had a couple of chances to underscore how out of shape I am. We did some especially fine dining over the weekend, including one place that is actually close to us.
And, in contrast with your average Monday, I'm still so nervous about lapsing back into this cold I just beat that I am actually well rested today. Coo-razy.

Nothing new to see here. Refer to last week's post for information about my a-listers. The Decemberists' new EP probably accounts for most of the new plays for them last week, though I'm not entirely sure why they've only just made it on to the chart. I may have bumped the ratings up a bit, just to make sure I had plenty of Decemberists to prepare me for actual December.

David Byrne's appearance on the BPA track had me looking for some Talking Heads. I know the greatest hits, but I felt it was worth delving deeper into the collection. New(ish?) of Montreal disc. Fleet Foxes are the palatable alternative to excessive Christmas music. Ra Ra Riot is very Vampire Weekend, thanks to RedPen. Still got that Upper Crust discography working its way through the playlist. That about covers it.

Our Harry Potter listening continues to throw John Williams into the mix here, everything else is (I think) pretty much what you've come to expect from me. I'm having some kind of allergen-rich experience today which has resulted in some sneezing, but mostly itchy eyes and restlessness.

Boots and I have been listening to Stephen Fry read Harry Potter as our collective bed time story. He does voices, it's pretty rad. Unfortunately, Boots is the one prone to insomnia, so I have gaps in the story on nights when I fall asleep before she stops it. Really, I should shut off scrobbling on that machine, but I haven't.
Listening to a couple of tracks by The Streets and The BPA inspired me to dig up the Scroobius Pip disc. UK Neighbors, what is that accent of his?
Other than that? Look like a pretty typical week around Mooktown. I listened to a bunch of Vampire Weekend and LCD Soundsystem over the weekend, using my phone for its mp3 playing capabilities.
Did I mention that I didn't get enough sleep? Please excuse any incoherence.
